I usually don't like racks, the only positive things I can say about rack versions of keyboards are:

They don't take as much space, and you can organize them better
Sometimes they have functions the keyboard doesn't has.

So you like racks!!

I need a rack seriously now as I'm buying the PSU for my modular...

After listening to some more samples from this instrument I'm beginning to feeling disappointed about the sound from it. It seem "plastic" for its price.

Sound is good OMGz, there are from the JP8k !
But for the price, you can buy a real JP8k and a multieffect

This synth is ugly...

so, I have an hesitation !
I'm interested by a new synth, BUT: Radias or Virus ? I read users'opinions, but in fact radias users loves radias and virus users loves virus
My heart goes to the virus (I think a virus C, 'cause the TI is quite expensive and has a lot of bugs for the moment, and when I hear the laser harp patch from per kristian's web site, I think the synth is powerfull !).

opinions on that choice ?

The demo's suck!!! I tried one yesterday, and it sounds huge! Sounds are hundred times fatter than the SH201's, the vocoder/vocoder-sampler is nice, and... Everything is great.
Try to try one somewhere, and your disappiontment will vanish immediately. Really! I'm gonna save money for this boy!

Prefer the Virus C, it is a little monster and it has nothing to prove to this kind of synth

Im probably the only who actually like the Radias' design. However i agree on the pink lights in the buttons... thats not my taste. orange light like in the parametres would make it look better.

If I had to choose between the Radias and the Virus, I would go deeper into both of them in a test. I think it's hard to choose from demos.

I have nothing against the design, even not against the pink lights. They look like my Electribe.

I have nothing against the Rack on its Own its only a different colour paint job to the MS2KR although it looks a little camp in colour,its the Meccano Approach to the Keyboard subframe..

I would have like to have seen Korg do a couple of mods to it so that the top panel was one fixed piece with a set of Knobs and sliders for other assignments either side of the rack Kind of like a Hardware controllor option for external equipment but built into the RADIAS unit and the rack to have been able to slot into the Panel and not fixed wit hsome crappy arms with a short space either side of it,I Think it would look better styled on the Minimoog with the Sloping panel with a slot for the rack to to fit in

Another idea i would have liked to have seen is that Korg made the unit slighty bigger so that the Keyboard would be the length of 2 Rack units,so you could mount either 2 radias Racks or radias and Ms2k or your own Rack module,for me a radias with a Jp8080 next to it or something similar


Its a good idea in that they only have to produce One model to suit all,if you dont want the Keyboard version you just buy the Rack module,or if you want the Keyboard version buy it complete,and Korg dont have to make shed loads of either a rack or Keyboard that no-one buys,but it looks bloody awful as a synth Kit...Kind of like they haven't actually finished building it...


Sound wise....Don't go on the Demos....Remember that the Composers who tend to write those more than likely bang a tune out using a few preset stock timbres without actually delving into the unit other than flicking through the preset,but its more of a showcase of whats the synth can sound like after a 5 min jam with it....and You'll find that the synth is capable of so much if you take the time to understand it

I never take the Demos as how it will sound as 99% of the time your decision to buy will be on the banks of sounds and not the demo songs,which rarely make much use of the said stock sounds...

I like the sound of the Radias and whats its capable of,but it can wait for the time being,I think the Rack is a little highly priced..
