I saw many reviews which said the ob12 was a big sh** but I never believe in them.
I don't believe in something if I have not listening to what the synth can do.
The OB12 is wonderful, I love the design, but despitely I never saw one, I never test one, I never listen to one.

I hope it'll change one day, but if the price is low, maybe one day I'll buy one, to test ! (no, I am not Cresus, I just make an hypothesis !)

12 voices is sometimes a bit too less. 24 voices would be great.
The sounds are better than a nordlead!!!

That may take a few days (my parents are divorced, so I'm not everyday with my equipment), but I will do my best.
In every case, all the synth sounds of the track "the journey" on my soundclick (http://www.soundclick.com/jarp2600) are made with it.

My keyboard player owned an OB-12 and An OB-X and said me the same, that the Ob-12 was a sh***, in that way that it's really disappointing for an oberheim.

Yes, as I listened in your demos Jarp, the sound is not really as fat as the OBX, I would prefer an OBX instead of an OB12

I heard some stodry that the OB12 has relly nothing to do with the classic Oberheim synths. They were discussing this on the vintage synth explorer forum. I think it was someone else with the rights to use the Oberheim brand, correct me if im wrong. But that might be the reason why they do not sound similar at all.

The OB12 is their first digital synth. VCF's became DCF's. They say, they emulated the analog original Oberheim filters, but I don't hear it.
It's like comparing a Polysix with a Poly800. Qua sound, I would choose the OBX (but a polyphony of 8 voices isn't very much). Qua price I would choose the OB12. (€350 against €1850 second hand).
And I don't know, but are the other oberheims also produced by Viscount?

Correct.

The Oberheim brand was bought by Italian company Viscount and they went on producing the OB12, in which Tom Oberheim was not involved at all. The first OS showed a lot of bugs, internal processing latency (!!) being the biggest error. This was resolved in later OS, but gone was the confidence of potential buyers due to negative reviews...

OB12 is not a real Oberheim!!!!
Gee Gee is right about the organ guys Viscount producing this and Tom Oberheim was not involved in the project. I read on a site (don't know how true it is) that he also said it's not worth to emulate the circuitry of anlogue synthesizer. Too bad it has the same name on the back as a Matrix 12 and Xpander.
