Jean-Michel Jarre to perform in Bucharest

The French musician Jean-Michel Jarre, (photo) regarded as a pioneer of electronic, synthpop and New Age music, will give a concert in Bucharest on November 10, at the Polivalenta Hall, around 8:00 PM, as part of his “Oxygene” tour, according to the event organisers, the Phoenix Foundation.

According to Paul Nanca, representative of the organisers, negotiations with the artist’s management started as soon as the tour began, this spring, but the artist decided that the first part of the tour will only include Central European countries.

The ticket price is to be announced at a later date. The “Oxygene” tour celebrates 30 years since the release of the album of the same name, and marks the release of a re-mastered version with an approx. two-hour concert. Jean-Michel Andre Jarre (born on August 24, 1948, Lyon) is a French composer, performer and producer. With a career spanning over 40 years, he has so far sold over 80 million albums and singles, and won countless awards and prizes. In 1976, he was named “Man of the Year” bythe “People” magazine. In 1979, he was included in the Guiness Book of Records for the largest concert ever held (La Concorde). Eight years later, he broke his record with a new concert – Rendez-Vous Houston. Jean Michel Jarre owes much of his fame to the giant shows that he has given in most parts of the world, and is believed to be the French artist having brought together the largest audiences for his shows: hundreds of thousand people attended his gigs in Hong Kong, London or Beijing, and three million in Moscow in 1997. Some of his best known albums include “Oxygene” (1976), “Equinoxe” (1978), “Magnetic Fields / Les Chants Magnetiques” (1981), “Zoolook” (1994), “Metamorphoses” (2000). His latest album, “Teo & Tea,” was released last year.

'JEAN MICHEL JARRE: OXYGENE IN CONCERT' TOUR - SECOND STAGE

Jean Michel Jarre's Management have confirmed to JARRE UK today, that Jean Michel Jarre is in the final stages of planning a second stage of his 'OXYGENE IN CONCERT' Tour, which is planned to take place late October-November 2008.

Jean Michel Jarre will be performing the second stage of his 'OXYGENE IN CONCERT' Tour mainly in Eastern Europe, with a possibility of some Western European countries being included that were not included in the first stage of performances earlier this year.

Earlier this week, an announcement was made on the Internet about an 'OXYGENE IN CONCERT' performance in the Polivalenta Hall, Bucharest, Romania on November 10th 2008, by the promoter, the Phoenix Foundation. Although this has not been officially confirmed by Jean Michel Jarre's Management as of yet, they have informed us that this performance is looking very likely to take place as advertised...WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

I'm glad Jean Michel will perform in Bucarest. I'm sure he'll put some new tracks into the show. That's my personal thought.

I'm hoping that we will get to hear some new material in this show. Jarre has said he's working on new music and this show is a good time to introduce some of them.

Hasn't it been rised by Rimbert that they would play some of the Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields or Rendez-vous beside Oxygene? Was hinted right after tour, in May, when Francis was interviewed by Juan.
Anyway poster says only "Oxygene", so...it is clear.

Maybe, Francis was speaking about another JMJ concert project.
