I have been missing these kind of innovations from JM and more or less i'm still missing, but its getting better the JMJ efforts. He could now do more innovations in older tracks.

hey rfoshaug, Are you going to do any more Equinoxe covers ?

I might. I've always wanted to do a cover of Equinoxe 2, as it is my favourite track from my favourite Jarre album, but at the same time it would be a very difficult cover to do as it doesn't have a clear time signature, so keeping everything in the right tempo might be difficult.

Also, I've been kicking around the idea of doing Equinoxe 4. I've done some "sketching" into my sequencer, but haven't really found the sound and style I wanted, so Equinoxe 4 is kind of in a holding pattern at the moment. But if I do another Equinoxe cover, it'll probably be Part 4.

Other songs I've been considering are Chronologie 4, Oxygene 4, Oxygene 6, Oxygene 7 or 8, or maybe Calypso Part 2.

Especially Oxygene 4, as it is such a classic. But I'm struggling a bit with creating a decent sound for the last of the lead sounds, so we'll see.

I'm all ears!

Equinoxe 2 does have a pretty clear tempo/time signature imho... but not the most interesting track to cover.

Yup, being the only music-related video in his favourites list is another big honour for me. I almost don't know what to say anymore - I'm just a little overwhelmed by the fact that Jarre seems to like my cover quite well.

Jarre is probably pretty swamped with messages ("listen to my cover also!", "you're cool" etc. ) and seems to be quite busy these days (which is a good thing), but I've just sent him a personal message to his YouTube channel thanking him for posting the link on his blog and on YouTube. For me as a self-taught amateur musician, receiving such kind words from Jarre himself really means a lot to me.


Beelooo, that's a nice sounding Equinoxe 4 cover! Making those electronic blips and blops should be quite fun with this song (Korg Radias, here I come!), as it was with Oxygene II. Maybe I'll to a cover of it as well. I'm considering something in the direction of the Concerts in China variant of Equinoxe 4, soundwise speaking, but I'll probably come up with a version that has more of a rfoshaug sound to it.

Anyways, it'll be a while before it can be finished, as I will be on summer vacation for the next few weeks. I will bring the synths with me, but I won't have access to decent speakers for the mixing/mastering phase.


Also, now I do feel a little bit of pressure as a "normal" or "plain" cover won't be enough for this demanding audience (including JMJ himself). Oh, well, I'll just have to put that way back in my mind and concentrate on making the cover the way I want it. After all, that's what I've done with my covers so far.

Well, rfoshaug, my opinion (which along with $2.00 will buy you a cup of coffee in the USA) is, that you should keep doing this because it is "fun" and for the joy you get out of it rather than trying to "top" yourself; the great thing about your cover is that it sounds like it was very spontaneous and "fun"...and, the moment it ceases to be fun, you should stop, or at least, take a break.

Exactlly what i though ; since he has said that he watch covers from fans on youtube, everyone wants to be recognized !!! That's will be a bit boring for him in my opinion

COncert in China, huh ? Interesting...^^ For me, i'll make cover Houston version of Equinoxe 4 soon when the actual conver will be terminated
