We don't know exactly who made those patterns, except that Pete's demos are named. Tim Hüfken is said to be the artistic collabrator and the drumprogrammer. They could have chosen Tims patterns which is meant by "artistic collabration". The drumprogramming on albums like "Revolutions" wasn't done by JMJ himself either as far as I know, still it wasn't presets.

JMJ met Rousseau in some café in Paris and they talked about blogs and ways to communicate with fans. Rousseau told JMJ to be more open to his fans. At least, that's what Rousseau wrote.

When I asked Claude Samard about a possible collaboration of Rousseau and JMJ, he said he'd just heard it for the first time. So I guess there were non-french fans who saw JM's name on Rousseau's blog and they went like..woooooot they work together etc...

Yes, some of them were, and others were programmed by collaborators.

JMJ has always told he had prototypes.
Maybe the MC808 was a prototype back then, and Tim made the patterns and then, they were added to the MC

I think I somewhere caught that the prototype was the virus...?

But I do know that Tim visited JMJ a few times to work on some ideas....

I can't imagine that you just us some preset patterns from a drummachine. There must be something behind this....

Unless Pete was lucky to get his hand on the one JMJ used for the album as JMJ didn't like it

I don't know if your are the author of that clip, but I think "fake" is a wrong word to use, otherwise define "fake".

This is patterns from Roland MC-808 posted in first post, compared with oryginal tracks.

Okay I went to a music shop this afternoon ... and there was a MC-808 here. I tested a little bit ... only to saw that there was exactly in the first 100th patterns the pattern of In the mood with you and Melancholic rodeo. It was enough for me ... I'm a little bit disappointed about that, coping with the reality ...

I can't help but feeling a bit sorry for Jean Michel Jarre right now.
