It was mainly done for the purpose of creating a nice keyboard with light instead of a really working controller. However according to the Houston video, sounds did appear when the keys were pulled. JMJ did only mess around on it to create some cool light effects.

One thing I have noticed with the keyboard, every 2 keys, one key has a black marker at the tip of the key. You can see it in the screen cap below. But when he goes down the scale almost all the keys light up including those that are marked and those unmarked.

Any ideas on this?

I don't know how it worked, but they also talked about the keyboard being some sort of a trigger unit to some of the more visible ligts, maybe it was only some of the keys so they put some markers on them... but I really don't know and this was just an open theory.

Well...the price seems a bit out of any market.
But I admit it's fascinating. Isn't it that spaceship we see in the IV Rendez-Vous videoclip?
I loved that video, it was the first time I saw JMJ on TV, back in 1986.
Looking at the pics posted by Nico seems like an archaeological find discovered...

It just deteriorated with age. Hope it goes to a good home and gets some tender loving care.

Personally, I would like to see this handed back to Jarre and for him to make the decision on what to do with it. Even if he doesn't want to restore it or sell it, donate it.

My grandparents live in Tours, near to where it is (20 kilometers).
If only they had a house instead of a flat, I would have kept it (now too expensive, though...) and then, I would have repaired it with some fans friends, and then, given it as a birthday present for JMJ's 60 years old !!

But I'm dreaming here...

Or maybe we can try to find someone near Tours, collect the money the seller wants (not 1 000 000€, he wants much less ), buy it, and then, repair it

Is there anyway anyone on here who lives close to were it is, can arrange to go down, take a look at it and get some more images for use on a database. I mean, this thing is up for grabs. It's not everyday (or year, in this case decade) this comes up for people to get close to something like this. After all, it may be a pile of dusty broken components, but this thing is part of history.
