I'm thinking of buying one once, after that review. Mostly I'm not too fond of Yammy synths, but this drumsynth seems to be good. It only has a bit limited memory. I dunno if that's expandable or not?

These ones are too expensive for me...

But I think I'll go for the ER1 !
But not now, in less than 1 year I think

I must lie. I don´t know it it is expandable. Someone said that it -is- possible since the RX1X -seems- to use SIMM-Modules, but no guarantee. It has a capacity about 110.000 notes -and- a Disk-Drive which can store (and read!) Midi0 and Midi1-Files besides its own format. Afair the RM1X has even a FAT12-Format to write and read those disks directly on the PC, if wanted. The "User"-Programs are afair stored in 40 "User"-Patterns and 40 Songs. Simply swap out these songs/patterns onto a disk if you wanna have space and it you want them back again, just re-load them from disk.

And it looks great when woriking with it: Each (lower) "Keyboard"-button has its own LED, in pure "Playback"-Mode they show the Track-Activity, in "edit"-mode they´re flashing like on a Step-Sequencer. Really, the possibilities on this machine are nearly endless. And if you need a "extra-punch" for basslines or kicks: On the backside is a potentiometer for regulating the "low-pass"-filter -and- you have for each Track the possibility to lift up the frequency between 0 and 200 Hz (like on a Equalizer).

Too bad i´ve sold mine, really. Was a -very big- mistake (the 2nd mistake after selling the Waldorf Pulse).

I have been offered a Yamaha RM1x, only 2 years old from new, never been used, mint condition, never been out of the packaging for £170

The only drum-machine that I've ever owned was the Yamaha RX21L:

Duno it I should create a new thread or not, but I am thinking right now.
I was thinking about the RM1x, but I read some opinions given by users and I have to say they don't convince me at all...

First, what do I want to do ?

I don't care the sequencer, I want TR drum sounds, and I want aswell a TB303-like synth, to add to my JP8000 but for the TB303-like sound, I can buy the x0xb0x, well, I think that's what I'm gonna do in some months... the EMU XL7 would be perfect, but the price is too high...

I can spend 200€ for the drumbox only

I thought you an Gee didn't like the 303 sound, perhaps you have started to like fart sounds

BTW IMO the 303 sound isn't fart to my ears, just pure acid

I have learnt to love it, now I need it very bad, but my tastes for that kind of music have changed since 2 months, Dark Shrimp can confirm it you...

Anyway I know it is not the same but haveyou tried with your JP? I thought the SH still has that Roland sound to make it, still the waveforms of the 303 are said to be a little different. I thought about an MC-09 also as it can replicate the sequencer of the 303. It has the slide function, which is IMO one of the cool things about teh TB303.

CHEAP = Korg ER-1

EXPENSIVE (but worth every penny and more) = Elektron Machinedrum (try getting one from the continent, they're a lot cheaper obviously, you can buy UK adapters from Elektron)

Can't the sequencer of the TB be replicated with a software on my computer ?

Oh, the ER-1 comes back again, but I can't find any good demos of that one, as if they didn't want it to be sold properly...
The Elektron is too expensive for me, sorry, maybe in 30 years
