Awesome? uh, okay...

What's really entertaining are the posts on IMDB (Internet Movie Database) about the film. http://www.imdb.com

Here is a sampler:

**********************************************************

From AUTHOR jackmuley:

When I arrived at my theater to see the show I already had tickets for, there were thousands of people outside waiting. It turned out, that was because someone had been so upset at the crappiness of the movie that they pulled the fire alarm and trashed a vending counter on the way out. Yikes.

There wasn't anything close to a riot really, that was a misleading headline, but towards the end when a ghost blows open the door during Indy's retarded wedding (why did he get married? All that romance justified it I guess?) and Shia goes to put on Indy's hat, our theater started booing. I thought that was justified, too.

Also, Indy was fired from his teaching job because of his supposed communist ties, why was he made the dean at the end? He accomplished next to nothing in the middle of the jungle and suddenley he's a hero?

Honestly I don't see how anyone enjoyed this movie. When Harrison Ford actually said Han Solo's line "I've got a bad feeling about this" it became evident that the whole production was a giant CGI George Lucas acid flash.

********************************************************

FROM AUTHOR IanMalcolm1138:

These are some of the reasons I thought the movie sucked.

**SPOILERS**

The script was bad.

The lighting was terrible.

The editing was sloppy. Many cuts, including wide cuts, close ups, etc. - did not match. There was a real lack of continuity.

The CG was overused and looked extremely flat and fake.

The prairie dogs were stupid and unnecessary.

The opening with the "car chase" was pointless and obviously filler and thrown in to really force us to know that we're now in 1957.

I find it hard to believe that only four guards are on duty at Area 51.

How did the Russians get into America at this time? How did they get their guns and gear?

Cate was terrible as the villain.

How did Mutt know to find Indy on the train? Why was Mutt wearing that stupid hat - he seemed to care about his hair a lot and I doubt he would have worn a hat - plus where did the hat go - you never see it again.

The acting felt forced and unbelievable.

The refrigerator being rocketed miles through the air after an atomic explosion and Indy walking away from it unscathed was just ridiculous. You can't even open a refrigerator from the inside. That bomb would have killed him.

The entire mini-plot with the FBI was pointless and dragged on and added nothing to the story.

The photos on Indy's desk of Denholm and Connery was stupid. Let's just rub it into the audience faces that these people are gone.

So far, I have read very mix reactions about Indy 4. Most of not very good. Sometimes, reading negative reviews put you off seeing the film in case it spoils the Indy 1, Indy 2 and Indy 3. It would be good to the end the series of films on a good note. I have not seen it, yet. :P

Oh Kanta.. see it!!!! Let us know what you think! It is fun! My friends pointed out that the older critics like the move (Roger Ebert, Entertinment Weekly, etc.) whereas the new media reviews..Onion, A.V., young bloggers, etc. seem a bit more negative (as I suspect they are more hardcore Indy fans!)

I think in the end it's all personal taste. IfI had not seen the other movies (a Indy Virgin..hehe), this would be awesome! But I am tainted, so... :vom:

Also, Spielberg said he was gonna shoot them like the old Indy, almost no CGi but in the end it is on CGi overload. The models in the other films gave it that charm.
Yeah, isn't it ironic that the first shot in the movie is CGI?
moviemaker wrote: Look, it's not a bad film. Just not great either. I'm sure it will make a TON of money, sigh...
I agree. It's certainly not a bad film, it kept me thinking afterwards, which is usually a good thing. It's got the jokes, it's got the digging and exploring, the action is a bit rusty and there are some totally outrageous scenes (Mutt and the vines), but it's certainly one of the better adventure films (National Treasure, anyone?).

BTW: on wikipedia, there's a summary of a script from 1995, Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars, in which Indy gets into a fridge, almost got married, but left at the wedding, and more things which ended up in the movie.

I saw IJ 4 ATKOTCS last night. Yeah...I think it's a warm and humoristic movie. Not as dramatic as I remember the older ones. Sometimes allmost a parody. I don't know why many ppl are against CGFX's...I'm watching that rather then plastic puppets and cardboard/cellfoam walls or other junk falling or flying all around a tired crew.
The Spielberg feeling is all over the place. Personally I didn't catch any stolen lines but I'm sure there are lots of them. Perhaps I'm just not that deeply Spielberg/Lucas fan to take notice of all that.
What about Cate Blanchett? She has to be in every g-d movie these day's and this one is no exeption. Here she looks like a fake russian agent from an old James Bond movie, could it be any more catastrophic? She's wearing a mechanic boiler-suit and a face full of dollar signs, that's what I think they were thinking. I'm not sure who directed the actors, but it has more to wish for.
Still, I think I saw a (if though a small one) spark of some kind of Indiana Jones for the future in this movie. :punch:
I think there was a hidden message and all I say is; it's about the hat. :robertdugenou:
A funny episode at the end, during the famous wedding this "boy scout" (Indy's son, or not son?) turns around and saying: "-Thanks Ox"
At this moment I didn't read the translation and misunderstood it as: "-This sucks" ...for a split second until I saw the translation.

Well...go on and see it, it's worth it! I have to like it after all. :fine: 8)

Next up will be...Batman - The Dark Knight. I think I'm a C. BALE fan! :peacemaan:

Just saw Indiana Jones 4 a few hours ago.

Definitely a solid entry, some mistakes and lousy dialogue (geez, George Lucas!) but I'll definitely finally get all the 4 movies on DVD someday 8)

Yes, now I've seen it 2. It's great!! Not as great as part 1 and 3 but way better then part 2. The only things that botherd me where the CGI and the intro. Intro was pointless with a capital P. And I hate CGI in live-action movies because it looks so fake and cheap.
