Yellow Magic Orchestra ‎– Solid State Survivor: Collector's Vinyl Edition

Pretty ingenious move to split one album into two (45 RPM) records to maintain pro audio quality. ;) The extra memorabilia is pretty cool as well.

Found at the supermarket today ;
Vinyl LP Led Zeppelin IV (2014 reissue) - a tad flat sounding, thin bass. Good mid-range and stereo though.

Vinyl LP Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (2016 remaster). The sound on this is out of this world! Pressing is perfect, quiet parts are dead quiet. No sharp high notes anywhere and it is just nailing the music experience from stylus to speaker.
Probably the best/most realistic sounding LP I own atm. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/137186
The black cover on the photo is just a plastic protection sleeve. The original cover is inside plus included a funny little post card.

Nostalgic feeling to buy vinyl records in cash like this again...over 25 years since last time. 8)

Wouldn't hasitate to say that this is without doubt the best condition I have ever seen a vinyl album directly from the factory. No vinyl dust anywhere, not a single finger print anywhere, centrum stickers exactly in right position, pretty snug yet not too tight centrum holes for the turntable plattern, absolutely shining clean pure 180 gram completely flat vinyl discs with smooth edges held in plastic-paper sleeves. While playing the needle moves a tiny bit back and forth /in and out of the center though it can't be more then 1 millimeter or so. Nothing that affects the sound anyways. This should state a perfect example to Jean-Michel or other artists who really wants to release a serious "Top Of Art / Top Of The Line" vinyl album. The Label is called Dog Triumph licensed to Cooking Vinyl.

Oh yeah, if only JMJ got around to making proper vinyl releases like that ;)

Coincidentally, I tried selling a Röyksopp record on eBay, but due to indexing bugs it didn't appear in searches for a long time (still doesn't on eBay.de) so I had to increase the price to a ludicrous amount because it's only got about 10 views (getting 1 or 2 more every 2 days) and 1 watcher, so I didn't want the only watcher to snatch it for a price that would have earned me a profit of 10 cents :P

Very excited to add my first ever box set to my collection today! :D

It's the Bratislava box set with the exclusive photobook and LP in it, cost me £90 to get it from HMV but it was totally worth it.

Image

I won't lie though, I was pretty shocked last week when I found out that buying a vinyl from HMV would cost me almost £30. My dad still has his original copy of Oxygene that he bought for £5 when it first came out, makes me wish I was born earlier considering the fact they charge so much for it now!

Oh yes, vinyl is extremely overpriced. The China re-release was 80 euro here in the Netherlands when it first came out in 2022. Ok, the price has dropped significant, but it's still more than double the CD price.
Worst even was the 7" release of Exit: 35 euro here in .nl

But anyway, congratulations on the box!

I've started going to some local record fares after reading stories about people's luckiest finds, so I thought I'd share my own purchases and stories! :)

Jean-Michel Jarre:

I wasn't expecting to find a copy of AERO at the first fare, especially in such good condition. As for Electronica 1, it was the only Jarre album I was able to find at the second fare I went to. I ended up going to HMV to pick up Metamorphoses and Geometry of Love after my disappointing experience as a way to lighten my mood.

Space:

Space is also a French group that I've recently gotten into ever since I listened to Magic Fly, and I actually found out that Dominique Perrier played keyboard for them during their concert in the USSR!

I wasn't expecting to find any of their albums in the UK, especially in the condition that they were in, as most copies of Magic Fly being sold on eBay have some pretty worn out covers on them. Definitely some of my favourite non-Jarre finds I've bought so far.

My package I ordered 17 days ago has finally arrived from France! :D

Image

Europe in Concert photobook in great condition, it'll definitely make a nice addition to my Swatch Musicall. But it seems the seller accidentally sent the translation booklet for the CFT book with my package too...

Would anyone like to kindly "donate" their own copy of the book to complete the set?
