About the JD990, this is really a nice one, I think I'll go for one maybe next year or the year after, if I have some spare money after having made my modular synth

I just missed an Audigy ZS 2 Notebook soundcard for 20€ on eBay this night......

But at least I got the Roland S760 sampler with the optional video/mouse card for 70€ including shipping, this is nice !
I needed a sampler for my forthcomming lives with Dark Shrimp, so that's just perfect

Maybe a stupid question....but where do you guys get al the money to buy all those synths? Robbing a bank or something ? I must work very hard to just buy a second hand microkorg ..

I have made 3 websites for companies, had some computer maintainances and sold some useless things, and I'm selling 3 synths, so I got some money

I guess it depends on who you ask on this forum, as it seems like some earn a great bag of money, and others, just have another explanation
Some of us still live under our parents roof, which ofcourse means less expenses on food, house, water, energy etc. When I ask my brother, it is insane how much money he spent on partying and cars. Now he barely have money for himself as he has started a "real" life with all the dayli and boring expenses.
When I see how some of my friends use their money on partying, I hit myself in the head. We can be at the same party, but they just handle their money different and more liberal. I always go for the cheap solutions, like start drinking before entering expensive clubs. Besides that I don't party every Friday and Saturday, liek some do. It's insane how much money you can spend on alcohol just on one night. I try to control that.
Im not much to say it, but the government has financed a lot of my gear. For two years I received a monthly amount of about €160. That's not much compared to most of my pals who got the double, because of an unlogical system. You get these money while being active on an education. Besides that, I haven't spent money on a driver's license or a car, which is pretty expensive in this country.
At the moment I don't have any money, so everything is put on hold, untill I find a job.
That's just my situation, I guess other have quite difefrent stories

It's not hard to afford synth as long as you got a job. It all depends, like Jakob said, on what things you choose to spend money on (beside the bills). If you choose to spend money on partying, new clothes, a car, motorcycle or electronic stuff (Flat screen TV, DVD, videogames, computers etc) you will most likely not be able to spend money on expensive synths. If you are like me who buy clothes like twice a year, don't party every week, don't own a car and don't need the latest electronic gadgets then you will most likely afford to buy a Minimoog within a couple of months.

That's true. 3 months ago I bought a studio microphone and bought it by selling some things.

Well having a Good Paid Job Helps....

I do like buying cheap/Broken synths and repairing them and then selling them on again with Profit,I like restoring some of the older Korgs,I have bought some older/Broken stuff and kept them,if I like them,if not I sell them on again,this way you can get to try out certain synths without shelling out mega bucks,if you like them then its cheap enough,if you don't they don't tend to lose so much resale value.

The Majority of the brand new synths I have bought I would rather keep sitting doing nothing than sell at a massive loss if they became redundant after a while,But owning a Lot of gear over the years you get an understanding of what is beneficial to you and what is just Gear Lust.I have a setup which covers all the synthesis areas I like and know the instruments inside out.I think over the years I've owned at some point every synth I always wanted to try out,some have been dissapointing others have been wolfs in sheeps clothing,after a while You get to a destination where nothing new seems to inspire you for more than a few moments,thats when you really appreciatte exactly what you have already.

I work 2 months last summer to get a Virus Ti desktop. But my parents give me the only necessary to pay food stuff or some entertainement ( like watching movies or take a little drink in a bar with some friends ). All the money I have to buy synths come from selling my old synths or selling few cd I made.
