it's not a matter of OS or platform.... it's a matter of Inet connection... and as far as I know, GeeJee has a faaaast one

I was at my girlfriend's though

The faulty Fusion has gone back. So it's replacement is in the form of the Nord Lead 2x which should be with me towards the end of next week. Put the order through this morning. I have always wanted one of these little red beasties

Thought you were needing more of a rompler/workstation

A workstation is still largely on the cards, but the NL2x was at the top of my list and with these synths now being phased out, I opted at this point to get a new one before I missed that oportunity.

Hold out for a Fantom G,Looks to be the bees knees at the moment,the Sequencer is possibly the best to ever grace a workstation...

As a workstation, yes, the G is certainly nice and one I would seriously look into when I get the chance to see one.

Picked up my new Moog Voyager today..Thought about having the Rack edition,seeing asi didn't really need the Keyboard section,but somehow a Moog synth didn't seem right in a rack especially the Voyager,so Got the performer edition,Actually preferred this model after seeing the various models in the shop,they all looked a little too cheesy when Lit up,the "Fire" edition looked about the best with its red panel and mod wheels,but I didn't like the Cabinet colour(Mahogany)sort of spoilt the retro Image a little

Anyway,this machine is really cool,Build Quality is superb,far better than I expected,and has nice smooth Keyboard action,glad I opted for the original Voyager,I think I would miss that Luxury of Preset storage and Midi capability as I was looking at the oldskool model(No presets or Midi)been trying to replicate some of the MM V presets to see how they compare,the Voyager is really easy to program,if your familiar with the Original Model D or the MMV you should find your way round its features easily,One thing I think should have been added on the Voyager was the ability to transpose the keyboard,you can play the full range via a Midi Keyboard,but it would be better to be able to access a few more octaves either side of the Range via a switch on the Moog itself.

Will report back later once I got into it a little more and had a little more time and Pics will follow..

I'd like to have a Minimoog, especially for it's three OSC, but also for it's legendary sound. However it is far too expensive for me at this point. Maybe when I'll get a job I will be able to even think about it.

Yes I see what you mean about the cheezy lights. Personally I have never liked that light at all. Not even on the standard versions. It just doesn't match the wood IMO.

Almost,the Panel in the Middle is not all Black,and the Badge/Plaque is in the Middle not on the side,everything else is identical(That image looks like its been photoshopped or something,you can see a few white specs in the Middle panel where someones obviously blacked out the Panel or touched it up)


Overall first impressions,its exceeded my original expectations,I have always thought it was overhyped,but I have always wanted one,ok it has limited polyphony and Multitimbral capabilities,but I'm very impressed by what sounds it can achieve even when you Look how basic its structure is compared to other Analog synths,obviously its the nearest your gonna get to that Legendary Minimoog sound and it does live up to that Image and brings it up to date with todays synths abilities also no fear of the unreliability of the Old Classic and large service bills.

One of the biggest plus's for me having this synth is I have never found a decent synth that covers all my bass sounds,I always ended up utilising loads of compression and EQ to make up for the lack of Oomph,the Andromeda is about the best in this department,and it really does compete with the Voyager now,having the two side by side,you can hear why people say its capable of emulating Moog sounds,but the Moog cuts through without any additional Modulation or processing.it has some real punchy crisp phat basses,that you can hear well in all frequencies,most synths I've ever utilised for bass tend to roll off and become flat in certain ranges..

I resisted the Voyager for a long time,but having recently got the Little Phatty gave me the Bug for that Moog sound,should have got one years ago...
