The Proph was one of those unusual synths from Korg that seemed to be very underated,I think the initial problem was that it was Monophonic and with a Large price tag upon release was very offputting,but its one of those synths that you'll smile to yourself,knowing you have one,being Monophonic makes this synth a pleasure to play,as you approach it in a different way knowing you haven't got the ability to play chordswhich may seem odd,seeing as there are so many sounds(some string/Pad) in there that are begging to be played polyphonically,The Z1 Adressed many of the Prophecy's pitfalls,but with the Proph Its one of those synths you either love it or hate it,there is no middle ground,personally its one of my favourite synths I own(the only issue i have with it is the editing knobs on the Facia are not really practical for real time tweaking there too bulky and not easy to grip)

It doesn't do any harm!!!I've left synths standing on there sides for months(I still have the M1/T3 and wavestation leaning up against the back wall of the studio like this,as i currently have nowhere to mount them as of yet)


Besides they were only stacked in the Picture like this whilst I was removing some cabling in the studio,it was an easier way of storing them rather than in the Middle of the room on stands as it takes up too much room

Some equipments are not seen here around very often, so I don't have a traditinal list, just what I am interested in and therefore looking for:

RM1x or EMX-1
JV-90 (supposed to be used for Motherkeyboard, but also for the expansion cards with must have sounds)
D-50 (many great sounds, proved by JMJ himself, but I also want to dig into other stuff than subtractive synthesis)
Korg Prophecy (So many of the artists I listen to have used it for so cool sounds, that I just have to own it) Otherwise I need some 303 like sounds and both Apollo 440 and The Prodigy have convinced me on this one.

Now that I have my Fantom X6... my wishlist is:


- expansion boards / more RAM / memory cards


And later...

- Roland D-50 + PG-1000
- Korg Triton Extreme second hand in 1 or 2 years
- a solid and reliable Virtual Analog synth (or the MOSS card in the Triton)

Liam Howlett Publicly slagged off the Prophecy,basically saying it was shit,he's only ever used it for one sound,other than that he said its never been switched on.

which is fine,each to there own,but when your getting it for free from Korg,you would have thought he would of had the deceny to say "Ok it not quite what I like in a synth how about this or that improvements Korg".

Instead of having it given for nothing and being so ungreatful saying its useless,seems funny that he slagged it off but it was seen many times gracing his live rig!!!and I suspect his used it more than he cares to admit to..

Don't bother...source Yourself a Z1,cheaper than a MOSS board and far more powerful...

I would have bought a MOSS Board for my triton,a Secondhand Z1 cost less !!!!
