Hmm, well I have a few of those Japanese releases, and they are just released on the Polydor Japan label. As much as the Polydor Europe issues were released by Polygram in France. It wouldn't make much sense to have them (re-)mastered for each seperate release too...

On this same topic...which release of Live / Destination Docklands is the best mastering. The original I assume???



And why change the title and cover artwork. Maybe the title I can understand but I love the white cover with the brush strokes on the front. (makes me think of something abstract from Picasso).


Also, The original Images had transitions (I think???) or edited to make the tracks merge seemlessly (or at least to flow from one to the next in some order of Jarre's choosing I assume) but the Sony Remastered version of Images has 20 tracks-an addition of 3 tracks.



Did Jarre choose to add these as well or was it a marketing thing? I wonder what people prefer between the two release (or 3 releases if you count the difference between the Euro and French release).



I have an original copy of Destination Jarre where they talk about there being a relase of the Paris La Defense concert on CD (to accompany the VHS) but at the last minute Polydor decided that there were two many live Jarre CD releases at the time so they instead released Images. What an idiotic move!

I don't know about any difference of mastering/mixing of the docklands albums. I must say I do like the new artwork more. Then again the original had a more extensive booklet which is really neat.

As for Images - I don't mind. I barely listen to it. I don't like how the tracks are cut short. I'd only play it to listen to Globe Trotter, Eldorado & Moon Machine.

I know about the planned release of the PLD album... a real shame indeed

I prefere the original 'live' release and as GJ pointed out which I agree with, the release had a much better booklet.

IMAGES, I listen more to the expanded 97 version, but again I agree with GJ, the shortened tracks spoil the most part of that release.

PLD - I still don't believe in there motifs to not release another 'live' album, sticking to yet another 'Best Of'. Neather one out-weighs the other. The original released planed date for the PLD album was to be 1st April 1991 in France. But according to the July 1991 issue of COTM, the PLD album was cancelled due to the up and coming Mexico concert (which was then scraped)

PLD could still be released, a nice boxset of the show with dvd and cd would be very welcomed.

Equinoxe 4 on Images sounds to be taken from the La defense concert, the intro and the drums for instance. Images is cool for more than just Eldorado, Globe Trotter and Moon Machine IMO. Magnetic Fields 2 is a new version also and Equinoxe 4. I found Computer Weekend better as well.

I think it's a studio version of it, indeed...

I can't tell that, those parts were just identical with the video I have of the concert but as I really wanted to say them it makes sence that is could have been something instead of a La Defense live album.

Hmmm not really.
A live recording is of a very different kind, IMHO

I didn't say it's a substitute for a live album just a relation between the La Defense and that track.

I have on MP3 the full version of MF 2 from PLD from the studio. Nice version.

So do I as an MP3 but where do they come from? I can't imagine any leaked materials.

Yeah, now that you mention it... those were the times of tape, so someone would have needed to copy it from tape to a digital medium...

I have it also but I can't remember where I got it...
