At 3:38 are some "dots" that seem a sequencer, but I can't find what I thought: 3 rows of leds of whom I think they it is a sequencer! Can't good describe it.

Can you post a link to which video you mean? There are 2 different ones...

The lights just before the VU? I doubt it's the EKO.

If we have seen the same clip (the one from MTV) there are indeed some flashing led-lights around 3:38 and that is from the EKO Computerhythm.

The only thing I can say in this is:

I bloody love sequencers.

I actually think you are right, I just didn't knew it could act like that as the steps were different from the concorde video or where I saw this, but in the Equinoxe 5 video, the led lights acts like in the Equinoxe 4 video, so it must be the EKO.

Well, I should be right on that one. After all the EKO is my favourite drummer of all time next to the CR-78 and the TR-808.

As one owner of the EKO put it...."it lights up like a sparkling christmas tree when you press play"

I met Michel Geiss last week-end with friends, we discussed a few about old Jarre albums.

Subjects was short because events are so old that he needs to listen tracks to comment what machine was used or not. Context was nice and I didn't insisted a lot about technic, indeed the man himself is very interesting and we talk about other things.

Some elements :

- Oxygene 3 drum was made with VCS3.

- Geiss RythmComputer was made for Equinoxe, Jarre made a 'live' rhythm with it on a track by changing setting during track, he forgot the track name.

- MPS is full of Fairlight, but it is not a surprise.

- Technically, Jarre and Geiss could not sequence the Eminent organ on Equinoxe album. So Equinoxe 1 contains live Eminent sequences.

- He did a huge work on Chronologie 4 track, mainly by using notator.

- Typically Eminent recording is : Eminent 310U -> Pedal(s) -> 2xRevox (ONLY for witness sound) => 'Dry sound' on Console and 'Processed sound' on speakers.
So records are made without echoes, echoes are generated after with Revox by "insert method".

So he did use the EMS-synths for other things than SFX. Interesting!
Well, that sound just had to be a synth since neither the Minipops 7 or the EKO Computerhythm has got a kick that beefy.

Equinoxe IV? (if that ain't the EKO Computerhythm. Equinoxe VII then maybe?

Cool! Somebody on the old jarre.net forum pointed out that you can hear some subtle changes in both rhythm and tempo on that sequence.

Just a little question.. What is the source of all this information about how oxygene and equinoxe is made.

Magazines but Michel Geiss is mainly the source (the famous tip on Equinoxe 5,6,7 bass).
It is difficult to have answer because he needs to listen old tracks to answer to specific questions (eg: he forgot on which track Jarre used his Geiss RhythmComputer) and he doesn't like very much to do that ... Not because he does no more like Jarre music, but because it is 30 years old and nostalgic for him, he is very busy too.

So some questions will never have answer except if someone realizes a special interview about an album for example (Equinoxe should be the best choice).

If I remember right, Jarre already did the half part of Oxygene album when he met Michel Geiss.
So, if I'm not wrong, Michel Geiss only worked with Jarre on creation of Oxygene 4, 5 and 6 and overall album mix of course (a huge part of album conception).

I can only comment by saying "I thold you so"... this is now the second time he confirms he was present during the recordings of Oxygene and that we must be gratefull for Michel's work on Oxygene and after. He's a hero for me.
