So it's the dulcimer sound from the internal waveforms of the XP? why is it called bizantine?

The web says that the dulcimer was proably introduced in Europe/15th century while the so called "Byzantine empire", which was the greek term for the late roman empire.

Its quite funny to see why certain manufacturers name there Patches with some sort of connection to the name

The Korg triton has a Mellotron Patch called "Watcher of the Sky" ...

connection with Genesis and the mellotron heavily used on the Track

there also a Combi patch called "Erraj si gnivil" it has all sorts of Jarre type arpeggios and pads ....Spelt backwards says Living is Jarre


They also named the Trinity so because its made of of 3 main circuits boards which was a reference to the Holy Trinity(the Father ,the son and holy ghost)and the Prophecy was also named in respect to the Holy theme it was to be named the "Prophet" but obviously the name was already taken by SC

I think this should be a psychological effect. It is harder to compare two sounds when they have different names, even if they sound nearly the same. The potential buyer, which already has another Synth, should not make a link to the instruments/sounds of his own instruments ("dulcimer"="dulcimer").

Isn't Byzantine from one of the expansion boards?
Cause the patch was really called like that...

most probably from the Asia or World expansion board, then. but definitely not in the internal samples or patches of the xp80

i think it's dulcimer from factory xp80 but i can't prove it yet. i need to ask my friend who owns xp80

I have the dulcimer sample & patch on my XP80, but I don't have the World or Asia expansion boards.

I don't know if JMJ used asia expansion board... he uses srjv80-04 for sure...

btw can sb help me with those arpeggios at the beginning of aero? my hearing sense i really baaaaad

I have the patch Byzantine on my Roland XP50 and I have the Vintage Synth and the Special FX expansionboards. I don't know on what expansion board the patch is. I will check it tonight.

Maybe the patch is in the user bank! That would explain why I don't know/remember it.

the byzantine is a preset on the xv5080 which as also been converted to fantom x series i think it was originaly a preset on a jv or xp model which was put on the xv5080 if this makes sense
