The main sound is 100 percent sure from Fairlight:

I think the instrument set is :

Bass : Emulator FunkBass + Marcus Miller overdub
Main Lead : Fairlight Arr1
Drum : LM-1
Rhythm : Bellenger samples used with Fairlight
Choir : Emulator "Female Choir" FemaleChoir

I know Marcus Miller music very well and I know his technique, tricks, licks ect. He play very percussive, noisefull with interesting rhythmical solution not really typical for bass guitar. he has not only own sound. He has own technique. On his music Marcus Miller use his own sound but as guest bass player on JMJ album he had different position. Francis Dreyfus is his producer too and Francis Dreyfus had the last word about sound. Francis Dreyfus brought JMJ and Marcus Miller together. Sound can be variable (eq, amplifers, various bass guitars, hmmm...maybe overdub with Emulator Funk Bass...) but the ply technique on Zoolook, Diva and Ethnicocor (fast part) - This IS Marcus Miller. I just fell it.

OK, great. And I wrote to Marcus Miller. Maybe he will make a statement about his cooperation with JMJ.

I am a bit dissapointed that Jarre used so many presets, I allways thought he did it all himself.

We're not, Jarre is well known for his use of presets

You get use to it in the end.

zoolook bass is funk bass from emulator. only slides and addons were made by marcus miller

Cool to hear about Marcus Miller. I enjoy his music too!

This is from Marcus Miller's semi-official site (endorsed by Miller):

So those 4 tracks would be: Ethnicolor, Zoolookologie, Zoolook and Diva... No bass on Woolloomooloo, Blah Blah Café nor Ethnicolor II.

OK, Diva was on Musique pour Supermarché before Zoolook (released in late 1984), but recording was probably done in 1983 as Blah Blah Café can also be found on Musique pour Supermarché, which was not a planned album and was done at short notice. So it's actually possible that Miller played on Musique pour Supermarché on the Diva track as intended for Zoolook but put on Musique pour Supermarché first.

Anyway, cool Miller bass on those tracks!
