Ok, i'll try to find it on my Z1... i don't think it exist on my Prophet 600... may be on Alpha 3 or Albino 3...

Well i don't understand well what's exactly the "pitch" notion in a Envelop Generator... EG is drived by note pitch? wich parameter of EG is pitched? All the envelop or just a parameter? or it about the cutoff 12/24 - LP HP BP? I explored my both hard synth.

P600 has 2 OSC with saw, pulse width modulation and triangle VCA and VCF (CUTOFF, RESO, etc...) and GLIDE.

Z1 has also this properties with a lot of other combination...

but no one as a "pitch EG" notion explained like that...

is it specific to the ARP 2600?

The pitch envelope is doing that upgoing slide each time a note is pressed in this situation. I think this is a tricky one though, as it sounds more variable for each note. Usually the pitch envelope only work on one OSC, but the old analogues are often a little more radical from these standard ideas seen on most modern synths.

@Juanito: an Envelope Generator routed to the oscillators is indeed not very common. Usually only the filter and the amp have an EG assigned to them.

The envelope generator defines the change of the parameter (e.g. Pitch, Cutoff, Volume) in time.
In other words - all the Pitch EG is doing is the pitch bend at the start of some of the notes.

Well, is not so easy... in fact i can une the GLIDE? sorry but it's not really clear for me... we can also use the note velocity to control the EG right? Now wich parameter of the EG is "pitched"? so pitch EG is not a VCF? pitch EG is used to change the pitch of the not with ADSR parameter right? like a evoluted portamento or glide right?

Yes with a pitch envelope you can make a pitch slide when each note is pressed. Where a glide or portamento is something going on between a note you press and then the next you press, a pitch envelope makes the notes independant.
If you use portamento/glide for this bass, it will eventually make an unwanted down going glide effect, when you push a lower note. With a pitch envelope that doesn't happen. No matter if you are pushing a note higer or lower than the last note you pressed, it will have the same pitch effect, if you know what I mean.

Ok now is clear... in fact, it depends of the synth... each modular or matriced synth should offer this possibility... well i'll try on hard and soft synth... A begining it was not clear because EG for me was directly associated to VCF... but both thing are totaly different notions...

Yes the pitch envelope is left out on many synths from the earlier days, being mostly on the more advanced synths.
Yes, tell about your progress with it. Replicating sounds is also a good way to learn synthesis, as you have an exact sound to go for. Later it will be easier to get whatever sound you have in mind for own compositions.

That's a lil' strange cause EGs are always hardwird to the AMP in the first place.

So i have experimented your bass parameter on Korg M1, Prophet 600 and Korg Z1.

M1: No possible to Module de width of pulse
Prophet 600: No possible to have an Pitch EG but using light glide we obtain something.

Now with the z1 i the best way. I can route 4 different EG to any source like VCF, PITCH AND VCA. So do you have more precisions about your patch.

I use one EG for VCF and VCA. SAW & Square PWM are seted has you explain. But what kind of filter profile do you use? LFP? Have you precision about EG values.

Wich synthy do you use to get this result?

you need to run it through a 24db low pass filter (LPF).

Envelope Generators on Oscillators(even with short cycles) tend to leave the pitch unmelodic dependant on how you implement it to the source,meaning you won't have so much control over the Pitch your playing.another example of how Pitch EG is used is on Chronologie 1(those bendy notes in the second part)and also the Laser harp synthex sound uses a Pitch EG to drive one of the oscillators back into tune with the other like a Glide effect.

You should be able to route an EG to the Pitch on the Z1,but you don't need to,you can easily just apply a short Portamento..

All the synths I created Equinoxe 5/7 Type basses on(Minimoog/An1x/KS5/JP8000/8080)have merely utilised short Glide/Portamento times.

Well, at first i try to recreate the sound without using PEG and the problem is that on each machine i have used to recreate it, there is no way to get the same sound...

On z1: OSC 1 -> SAW 80% -10 tuning (vol 80%)
OSC 2 -> Pulse width 30-40% +10 tuning (vol 100%)

No way! Both with the same EG for VCF and VCA |\_

What's the problem?
