If all goes to plan, we will have 2 recordings here. 1 from Dv_ and 1 from daz. :bravo:
The main thing is about quality. I think i'd be great if they'll encode the recordings by flac or ape lossless codec :)
I'm definitely with AERO62 on this one.

Yeah, but my main point for this thread was that the original recording could still sound better than the 128kbps mp3s that have been floating around the Internet for years ... but it's also neat to have these alternate recordings appear :o

Got more? ;)

Visually the best ever, musically, not sure. I find the arrangements done for EIC, CPLT, Moscow and 12DOTS more interesting in terms of music...

There was a topic about "whaz' best concert" but I don't understand why has been left for more than three years... ?

What I like about La Défense is the "giant desk" with all the computers behind which Geiss is.

Well, EIC - not enough older tracks to be the best musically, although what was played was very good and visually stunning. I was just disappointed that more older tracks like Zoolookologie (in particular the animated characters projections from PLD would have worked incredibly well), Equinoxe 5 and Revolutions for example weren't also played at these shows.

Concert For Tolerance - the tracks sounded live, but too flat in my opinion. Chronologie 6, Revolutions, Magnetic Fields 1, Oxygene 4, Rendez-Vous 4, even Equinoxe 7 (too much of a rather uninspired crashing drum rhythm that clashes with the piece) and Chronologie 4 all lacked something compared to other shows or versions. Having said that, Ethnicolor and Industrial Revolutions were sheer class :-)

OIM - too much Oxygene 7-13 and "boom cha-cha disco hand claps" during Chrono4 and RV4!

12DOTS - C'est la Vie rather than Chronologie 4 after a tick-tock countdown - c'mon JMJ, not the most glorious start to the new Millennium!!!! And tracks like Oxygene 2 and Equinoxe 7 utterly destroyed by traditional Egyptian musicians who were playing some other tune! And Oxygene 4 - play the album version, stop it suddenly, get an Egyptian percussionist to tap away for a few seconds... then press "play" again... ;-)

Track listing wise, PLD was like a real "best of" show, playing his best and most enjoyable tracks with stunning new arrangements and imaginative linking or intro pieces that didn't sound wafty and wander aimlessy (like say CPLT intro to MF1 or EIC intro to MF2).

Maybe I'm being a tad unfair, but for me these other shows just seem a tad disappointing afterwards when compared to PLD!

Yes, C'est La Vie was rather weak as a starter into the (unofficial) new millenium. But apart from that, I really enjoyed the musical clash of French syntheziser music with Egyptian traditional instruments. To me the most fascinating re-arrangements of Jarres songs - even though something went wrong a bit here and there.

8 Years ago i record the concert from the video tape, and encode it in 48kHz 16 bits VBR after cleaning it

But it's the video concert, so no Equinoxe 5, Rendez vous 4, no encore.....

I can share it if someone want

Here is my record of PLD, from the original video tape ; missing high frequency up to 16kHz, because of the first MP3 conversion 8 years ago....but it's sounds good.

I don't know if there are better quality records, but for now i still never ear anyone.

Enjoy !!

Thank you soooo much!! :D In fact, I did the exact same thing years ago, recorded the whole concert from my VHS tape into my Dat-recorder :P I still have it somewhere :P But this was (your uploading) a fast way to listening to it again :P

A great recording from, probably, my favourite Jarre concert! :)

So once again, BIG THANKS!! :)

I can't believe it's 20 years to the day since I was sitting for most of the day in the middle of that road in Paris, getting sunburnt, setting the world record for most cans of Coke drunk in one afternoon, waiting for the concert to start!

Still the most amazing concert ever in my mind, and it seems like it was only yesterday! And even 20 years later, I'm not sure if it can be bettered.

..strangely I was leafing through the "Jean Michael Jarre, Paris - La Défense une Ville en Concert" book this evening, looking at the photographs and reminiscing, not realising today is the 20th anniversary. How's that for co-incidence!
