The drumpattern in RV2-Part3 is definately a TR-808. No way the Drumulator was used there, contrary to what you might read on the net, or people try to make you believe. The Drumulator doesn't even sound close!
Here's an approximation of that particular beatloop made with TR-808 samples. It is however totally dry, so to have the full JMJ-effect, first of all you need the Electric Mistress (or similar) directly behind the drumloop and then some reverb and EQ-ing. Now slightly pan to the left and right... hey presto! By the way, there's absolutely no kick-drum in that particular beat (at least in the original recording there isn't)! For the clave-like sound I used the TR-808 cowbell, but actually I think he used one of metronome beeps from an Atari ST. I made the sample so that you can loop it if you want... Enjoy!
