Big time wrote:I like your optimism Jacob, but this is a "No-good" for me, and it won´t take me any longer to see it different! :P It´s not that it is a BAD album, it´s just not "massive" enough for a Jarre album, and I´m not talking massive as in Chronologie or Oxygene 7-3 etc, it´s just a very thin album if you know what I mean? IMO that is!
Well that was some sort of what I was saying. Whether you like it or not is one thing, but looking at how it is done is something else. Somehow it is like that JMJ didn't put as much work into T&T, for instance there are no major collabrations or big compositions, still I don't know how I will look at T&T in a few years. I like the album but not in the same way as with other albums like Oxygene 7-13.

5 months later, I still have heard the whole album a couple of time, I still don't have bought the album, I still don't like this kind of music...

Just speaking for myself, I have not changed my mind, I always told that to me Oxygene 7-13 was the last classical Jarre album.

The thing is that fans are most of the times hardcore fans, it's hard for them to admit that JMJ's music is no more the same, especially if this change is for something they dislike... after Metamorphoses, lots of fans thought JMJ won't go further in his "new" style, it took 10 years to clearly see that it's not what will happen.
As you perfectly told it, Teo & Téa is just another step in JMJ's new ways of seeing things, it's probably the last level a fan can accept, it's now too far away from what they used to enjoy, that's why it took so long for them to give up and why it's happening now.

For my case, I like JMJ's work before 1997, and I like aswell trance/dance kind of music, so I like aswell JMJ's post-1997 period.
But sure I miss the pre-1997 period...

I used to be even more radical around 10 years ago or so, I seriously thought that JMJ's music stopped being good with WFC and had turned really weird with Chronologie. I don't actually remember why I thought that, there was something with Chronologie 2,5 and 8 IIRC (yet I listened through the album a lot and liked Chronologie 1, albeit for some reason I thought it was played at Docklands) but I didn't like CPLT that much because it had so many songs from Chronologie, and I even liked Oxygene 7-13 instantly and still sort of disliked Chronologie until I stopped listening to Jarre in 1998. When I returned to Jarremania in 2003, the songs had already been formed as an important part of my childhood in my head so the "dislike" was suddenly gone.

Weird.

I think it is wrong to put an equality between JMJ's evolution in music and a popularity-meter. Just because a fan doesn't like the new music doesn't mean he has to drop being a fan. Did Elvis' fans disappear because he died? Nein... I know there might be a difference, as stopping a career on the top doesn't result in any less good music, if you know what I mean.
Personally Im just looking forward to see what JMJ will do next.

The track is ruined by Anne's fake moaning. If it's for real, I wouldn't like to hear her faking it. :P :pwned: :punch:

Yes, I skip BA aswell, these moaning are destroying the track, really !
But I didn't like Melancholic Rodeo in a first stage, and after Cannes showcase, I loved it, but listened to it rarely, it has a very special meaning for me, each time I listen to it, I see JMJ looking me some seconds while playing during the rehearsals, wow...
