Good Luck with replicating the Synthex Laser harp sound.....


I've found the best way to replicate it is with 3osc (2 saw and 1 triangle)(sadly the JP only has 2),you need to detune 2 of the sawtooths and then sync them back into tune with a glide,something that is not easy to replicate on the JP...I've tried it many times with no real luck.And I'd consider myself an experienced programmer

The secret to the Synthex harp sound is in Oscillator Glide and the Chorus unit and oscillator detuning...I only really achived a convincing sound using the Novation KS5(due to its 3 Osc)

At the moment I'm having a go at programming the sound into my Korg Z1


You could get away with 2 Osc although the sound wont be as phat,although the synthex has quite phat Osc...

Heres some tips to get you started

Start with 2 osc- 1 triangle/1Sawtooth
Detune the Triangle Down and Octave and then widely detune them and then sync them back together using Osc Sync then apply a positve Pitch envelope to the sawtooth so it slowy falls back into tune(this is where the glide is working),use envelope settings of Zero Attack/Sustain/and release with a medium length decay
use a lo pass filter set to quite high with very little if any resonance and then use the filter EG set to Zero attack/Sustain and release with a short decay(this add a little front end),then set the Amp EG to full sustain (long) with Zero Attack/Decay and release,then you'll need to apply a lot of unison detune(set this to your desired setting the More detuned the phatter the sound will be),then add some chorus again to phatten it up...

Heres a little sound byte of the Synthex replication on the Novation KS5,I couldn't get anywhere this sound using the JP!!!

Well, I didn't understand all, but the sound I tried to replicate (without detune, I dunno how to do it with the JP8k) is a fat bass not very close to the laser harp sound...
I will try to work a bit on it, I want to make a sound !

Thanx Equin(00)xe! I know it's difficult to get the laserharp sound! It's so difficult to get that warmth and strength the real laserharp has! Damn good sound desingers at the Prophet factory then!

It's from the Synthex and was programmed by a third party programmer Paul Wiffen...

I don't think it's hard to find a D-50. About the JP8000, I think it is not hard to find one for sale but the JP8080 is easier to get.

I paid 476€ for mine, with 26€ of P&P.
It is not too hard to find a D50, I found mine on internet, like for the JP8000, on a french website called Audiofanzine.
If you want, there is a JP8000 for 350€ now on it, I can give you the URL

Take a look on eBay for the D50, there are some sometimes to sell with a starting price of 100€

The JP8080 is not very hard to find too, sometimes it appears on eBay, but it is 2x more expensive

Normal prices :
- D50 : 250€ and 300€-350€ with a PG1000 (I paid mine with a PG1000 and a flighcase for 280€ but I was lucky)
- JP8000 : max. 550€
- JP8080 : 800€, at max

Finally I tried to do it this afternoon and after 30 minuts, I have a great sound, it is not as good as the real one, but I think I am quite near the idea
