Parsick?
So...there are 4 of these around in Europe? JMJ, Zanov, Parsick and ?

Yeah !
But does he use it ?

According to Freddy Angel who restored and modified JMJ:s RMI for Oxygene 7-13 back in 97 (damn... 10 years!?! Time goes fast!!) the synth was in a horrible condition when he got it. Old synths needs to be played if you don't want them to die and I don't think that Jarre has used it much since Oxygene 7-13.

You can only think about what he did for the Aero version of Oxygene 4, sounds like a whole new track and as we have heard, it is almost impossible to make a replica of this sound with everything else.

But he can play synths without recording tracks and letting us know, ya know ?

Yes, Stephen

The 4th is ex Matthias Becker's (Synthesizer von Gestern) wich was sold to a guy in the UK.

And although he says he reconstructed everything for 5:1 note for note,I dare say he used some of the original tapes of the audio for some tracks...He must have audio of the seperate tracks(Either master tape or maybe on Harddrive archive somewhere),given how his Live tracks adjust, and how they still contain original audio elements,It would be impossible to replicate every sound like for like of the Analog stuff, especially the synthi and arp sounds unless he had audio of the individual elements, even if he has Patch sheets for the paramters I would say it still wouldn't sound the same everytime he made those patches
Jarre himself said it was impossible to replicate certain sounds(Like Synthi stuff),but how come the efx are exact as the originals on Oxy 2!!!,even if he replicated them with the Synthi for AERO usig Patch sheets, the sounds would not be exact everytime,if he had to do the tweaking of those(Lfo frequencies) by hand..unless of course there is a track archive of the Audio!!!and he maybe sampled certain bits

Well, of course he can.

So Becker had one too.

Thanks for the info. J.

Thank you very much Johan for the info!
I'm still puzzled by the random mode described as a feature in the producrt leaflet... maybe they added a e.g. footswitch option in later revisions - or just planned for it. There's no date on the leaflet so it's impossible to tell. I would love if somebody could a write an article on the RMI history just like there's one on ARP.
Rise and fall of ARP
ZooTooK wrote:I can't identify any random runs on Oxygen
eeerr... listening to Oxygene 5 just as the RMI HS base line (as provided by Johan above) there's a sine type of sound that could very well be a random arpeggio. Could be some keyboard bashing in UP mode or some S/H from the ARP, but still could be the RMI.

Listen to this:
O5 random RMI.mp3
On top of the first part you can hear 2600 S/H, second part RMI = bass *(I think but it can also be the ARP sequencer wich can also do random mode + 2600)*, Sea sound = 2600, on top you can hear the Farfisa. You can even spot a tape cut on the RMI bassline or 'hickup' what you prefer :].
You think too much in terms of a true arpegio. The RMI has noise on board too!
As for rise and fall of RMI there is some info
here.

LeoDaV have you tried making that bassline of yours a bit smoother using the RMI clone, but still punchy?

No, not really. I was more a POC-case (Prove Of Concept).
What I do know is my clone is 'too clean' and not as bright compaired to the original RMI. But that belongs to the 'Analog vs Digital'-discussion

Nice demo, How did you program the S/H on the 2600 to soo limited on a scale?
Also, JMJ didn't have the ARP sequencer until Equinoxe?!

JMJ used ARP sequencer on oxygene... i think he used 2 sequencers...

@ZooTook: perhaps JMJ used the ARP sequencer on Equinoxe, but Geiss had also made JMJ the Matrisequencer at that time, a 2x50 or 1x100 steps sequencer with loads of features including panning etc.. so it's likely he used that one.. :mryellow:

SO you guys all agree that he did use a sequencer on Oxygene?
I've spoken to many people on other boards telling them that he must hav used a sequencerm but they wouldn't hear of it, instead choosing to always point the finger at the ever mysterious RMI Harmonic Synthesizer!
Also because I've been trying to work out for what exact parts?
