My ob12 suffers an internal Latency. So every note you play on the keyboard, takes a few microseconds before you hear it. But for that, see the ob12 thread :) .

Is this a Known bug???Surely Oberheim would have addressed it with an O.S update???unless its your particular model that suffers,Is it really noticable,I would expect it from a PC or such,but not from a Hardware device,Of course you'll get latency on any hardware device from the time you trigger a note to the actual sounding of the note,but Human ears wouldn't detect it in normal useage

Are there any Oberheim forums around that could maybe help you out with more info on it?

I guess it's a generel problem, as people have talked about it before on VSE.

As far as I know, the 1.5 software update solved the biggest part of this bug, indeed.

But not everything! I have the latest OS, and still it has the latency. But let's discuss that in the right thread.

I use an Akai ME30P with eight midi outs.

Cheap S/H and an essential bit of kit. Never let me down.

Four MIDI in, 8 midi out (corrected).

PC midi out feeds into single midi in of this patchbay, everything is run onwards from its eight outputs. V-Synth as controller feeds midi in messages to PC.

Haven't needed to change this arrangement for a long time, all gear driven by the PC via Midi Channel 1 - muted or faded in/out via mixer.

No latency or midi error messages so far..... :)

Hmm, but I don't work with a computer. For now I have a sequencer (with 2 midi outs) and a Midi controller, so I actually need at least 3 MIDI ins...

There's also merge boxes, mixing midi messages into one channel. I've seen people who used this with their D50/PG1000 setup: when connecting the PG1000 to the D50, you loose your midi in on the D50, so a merge box in between mixes the signal from the sequencer/external controller and the PG1000... clever, I'd say :)

Oh right, just to back-track.... your problem is having to constantly switch cables between your sequencer and different synths right?

Never used hardware sequencers myself, but wouldn't you just do midi out from sequencer to midi in of patchbay, then feed this signal out to each of your synths via the separate outputs. The sequencer parts would be laid down by a master keyboard also attached to the patchbay but with its own midi out to sequencer midi in....? This way you only need one or two midi ins on the patchbay (mine cost me £30 on Ebay BTW).

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you.

It has memory locations for different setups too. Which input leads to which outputs etc. and no computer needed.

Yes, that's the problem. But thanks for the link.
BTW, I bid €45 for an A880, I hope that's a good price?

Not familiar with this one so couldn't say except that £45 is not bad for any patchbay to sort your issues.

This patchbay allows me to control any of the other devices from either the Triton Classic or the Triton Extreme and also from Trinity,dependant on which patch memory is used at the time,this also allows me to sync all other sequencers/Synth to a single Midi clock source,this is useful ,when I'm recording audio as I can have the D16XD as the master clock and slave everything else to it for perfect Audio>Midi tracks,or I could slave one triton to another and vice versa

the Patchbay also allows me to merge any of the ins to any of the Outs,so I can control a single synth from multiple keyboards,and its also great for Live playing to record on Multiple Ins dependant on which synth plays which part I can input them in Live and improvised and record everything without having to use a seperate Merge box or unplug cables for different functions or set up the PC to record a second track because a synth is not close by to reocrd it live becuase I'm tied up with another synth,I usually just record on the PC using multitrack function and record most suff as is

the second Patchbay has all the Midi outs from my synths not already hooked up to the first patchaby by there Midi outs in the patchbay,so that I can input any Midi data direct from the synths,so I can play any device in the studio and still input Midi into the PC,So in effect I can use any of My synths as a master keyboard,which is great as I don't have to sit in one central point all the time for playing/Inputting Midi into the PC,because I have everything hooked up by both a Midi in and Out means i can do all synth editing with the respective software editors from the PC,Without having to ever unplug a Midi cable again!!

I may look at adding a third Midisport 8x8 soon,as eventually I want to hook up every synth to the PC,at the moment I have several synths sitting gathering dust
