I used to have the Roland D-20... a sort of D-50 with less possibilites in the Edition...but some PCM sounds were nearly the same indeed. Been good in '88, but became so frustrating from 1992/93, just like the D-50. the PCM samples could not be filtered and were sounding too "digital". The trend went back to the analog style so in 1989, Roland started commercializing the ever exciting JD-800 (but was far too expensive at the time). I really hated this period.
I think we were on the right track again in 1996, with this new generation of virtual analog synthesizers (Raven, Cs1x, NordLead, Waldorf etc etc etc) lol now you can have a D50 for a few tenners

Well, too bad, I think a D50 is still very usable today.

Anyway, you don't have to follow the evolution within electronic music
I hope to pick up a D-50 in the near future.

I've done a simple Cover of WFC(well it was an experiement really,more of an exercise to see how much I could remember the notes without refering to the songbook)I can pretty much play 100% up to around 15 mins or so..the cover was played in Realtime,using both of My Tritons and the Trinity
I'll try and find the recording of it,but its only basic,just a couple of pads in a wash and a Piano with a large reverb time,there was no Dripping efx
I'm sure I've still got the Demo,as i record everything I play pretty much

Also the D50 was such a pain to program... menus, sub-menus and sub-sub-menus, always hitting this bl00dy arrow keys all day long
But I reckon I should have bought the editing box at the time, maybe I would have had more fun with it?

The PG1000 is really useful when you have a D50 and want to edit sounds and create your own sounds.
But now I have my JP8000, I'm asking me : do I sell it, or not ? ...
But we are (I'm ?) a bit offtopic here, nops ?
