This is the best type of sequencers IMO, they are so simple and easy to use. I'd rather use a sequencer like this, but maybe it's because I never really learnt how to make decent sequences in computer sequencers like Cubase.

Yes, and it doesn't have internal errors. Only placing pins, and you've got a melody!

No, I didn't mean that. I want to build a sequencer for my modular and this is what I'll have, I'm just saying I think a clone of the Matrisequencer maybe hard because I've never seen matrixes for sale in any electronics parts store.

It's really a matter of preferences. I find the sequencer in Reason very intuitive and nice to work with. And on top of that you got the Matrix as well, which is a nice addition.
But then... I'm no hardware fan, at all, any longer.

Here's why I like hardware more then software...
40 year old hardware still works today... 15 year old software allready is useless.. how are you gonna use the software 40 years from now?

The Matri Sequencer allows you to visually see and change rapidly the wanted sequence. Like my arp sequencer... in the arp case it's a slider as for the matri an ems-pin. I also dislike knob-featured hardware sequencers like the Korg SQ-10 ...
I know it surely has to do with tase... so above is my taste

I prefer hardware. Software always changes and is never stabel IMHO. For a vst you need : A sequencer like Cubase, DirectX, a very good pc with a lot of memory, fast processor, professional soundcard and stuff.
With hardware you only need the instument and a headphone

As far as I can see it definately is the Croissy studio before the demise... and judging by the hardware present: just before/during Chronologie or after...(hint: the JD800 is there)
I still wonder where he uses the Casio Rapman for... anyone got one of those?

It's from the PLD era, I have more pictures from this series, the MatriSequencer picture has resided on my HD for a looong while, thought it was nothing special
