Honestly, I'm curious if in the contract between Jarre and BMG there's a clause that they can (or can't) release unreleased/alternate stuff.
Lord knows, if I had the opportunity to determine rather that stuff does or does not get released, you know what I'd be doing.

I haven't listened to the new remaster yet but given the reaction here it sounds like another remaster to avoid.
Which got me wondering which release of Zoolook would be considered the best version/release?
I have the original release on cassette but the CDs I have both contained the single mixes on them (one is a Polydor release 823 763-2 the other is the Dreyfus remaster release FDM 36145-2 where the tracklist on the back of the case is wrong).

From the ones I've listened to so far, the 1984 Japanese LP had the best sound quality.

(I did get rid of it, though, and the buyer left me negative feedback because they didn't look at the product images properly )

I have the original '84 and the '85 remix CD release, both sound terrific. Have an LP somewhere, but haven't given it a spin in ages, so genuinely don't remember that one.

The problem here is JMJ who was always unsatisfied with the mastering. Then Garraud who recommended Perreau in the beginning of the 2000's. Then Perreau with his careless, heavy handed "processing" and convincing JMJ these are the right "compromises". And last but not least the unending, degenerate loudness war. Honestly... some of us could do better remasters.

Yes I have the 1997 Scott Hull Mix (remaster from 1984 first edition I think) and the 1991/92 Digitally Remastered edition close to 1985 mix I suppose and it's very good.

So the 30th anniversary edition introduces a default on Ethnicolor II wich is present on 40th anniversary... Imagine if it was a remaster of already not good remaster ?

I don't get why JMJ doesn't reach out to his fans, the fans so many are professionals so many highly talented would put a lot of dedication care attention thought consideration into JmJ's albums, projects.

Still with the "personally supervised this remaster" stuff... it's already been a few days - has no one else really brought to his/Aero Prod's/Sony's attention how sloppy the remaster is?

I've got that 12" single, though I haven't listened to it in years, but the version of Moon Machine is the same as in Images (without the RV4 breath apparatus sounds, of course)
