Recently I have started digging more into the Microkorg, and I must say that I like it better now than earlier. I think I just never gave it a better chance. It's not as dirty and screamy as the Nord, but I'd say it beats the 201 when it comes to dirty leads. It's also pretty nice for EFX sounds, which it will now probably be dedicated to in most cases. As long as I keep it away from pads etc, the polyphony won't annoy me. At times I think the saw gets boring though... it simply sounds too much the same all the time, so Im getting tired of it after some time.
It definitely also helps on the creativity when you get more into the matrix system, and simply get a better feeling of where the specific feature is in the matrix.
A bad thing is that after some time those knobs have been tweaked too much, as if they have gone a little loose compared to a few minutes earlier.

Reminds me I still have to pick up one of those... they're cheap but cool...

Mind, for the price, you may as well go with either the Waldorf Blofeld or the Alesis Micron. The mK's great, but for a little more money, those two synths will give you many more features.

Yeah the Blofeld is interesting... but I've always had a weak spot for the MK.
The Micron's keyboard has a very nice touch to it... I clearly remember that
But programming it without an editor? No thanks

In case with the Micron, I personally wouldn't touch it with a stick. It's a bunch of menu programming. The Blofeld seems more logical and ofcourse with a nice screen, besides a lot of nice features.
Anyway to get back ontopic, I just said that the MK has a nice sound compared to the pricetag, and that has nothing to do with other synths having more features compared to their pricetags
