Yes, you're right. I meant that some videos on Arte are only available in selected countries. Fortunately, if you have a link to a blocked video, you can download it using the yt-dlp program, which has a built-in feature to bypass regional restrictions on Arte.

Just two little corrections: The tour consisted of twelve dates and the final one was Stuttgart, not Seville.

I did like the Brussels show a lot, my only real sense of a missed opportunity is that he didn't link the surrounding architecture of the Royal Palace into the show experience. Seville and Venice appeared to be better Integrated.

Also, Zero Gravity Remix and Exit, two tracks I can do without .... otherwise, it was a good night!

Jean-Michel Jarre is the musician who has accompanied the writer of these lines continuously for almost 50 years. In the second half of the 1970s, a young boy who was not even 15 years old discovered the music of the first albums and was inspired to draw spaceships. I was literally glued to the radio so as not to miss a chance to save his pieces on cassette. Alongside Vangelis, the Frenchman is a pioneer of electronic pop music; the music world would probably be different without him. Jean-Michel Jarre has always embarked on new paths all these years, which no one has ever gone before him, without denying his past. Just if you review the six studio albums of the last ten years, you will find traditionally knitted works, current party electronics and purely avant-garde albums. With this joy of experimenting with music in various directions, he is also musically progressive and fits with his music to STONE PROG, even if he only uses electronic instruments.
Live tours were not so his. To my knowledge, this summer tour 2025 with 12 concerts is only the fourth tour of his almost 50-year artistic career. Mostly they are gigantic individual concert events, with which he regularly inspires for decades. Here he is the only artist to have already cracked five million spectators, his concert in Moscow in 1997 in front of 3.5 million spectators is considered the show with the largest number of concert visitors of all time. In May 2024, Jean-Michel Jarre gave an overwhelming large concert in Bratislava in front of more than 100,000 fans, where he included practically an entire district including the Danube Bridge and houses as a projection screen in his show. This show was streamed free of charge at the time and will now be released on sound carriers in September 2025. Under the impression of this show, which was already overwhelming on the screen, the joy was great to finally be able to marvel at the master again in Stuttgart after 9 years in a big stage show.
The Schlossplatz in Stuttgart welcomes us with pleasant summer weather. Measured by the dimensions described above, we can almost expect a club concert here together with not even 7,000 guests (not sold out), which should fascinate us precisely because of a certain compactness of the square and relative proximity to the master. The support concert of Martin Kohlstedt starts at 6 p.m. and leads to the appearance of the master with often improvised moods. You can see in the music, which resembles the style of Jean-Michel Jarre, how much he worships today's main act.
So far so good. Because in the next abundant hour, the organizer probably wanted to ruin the mood of the visitors. First with a dance inlay as part of the local "Colors Of Dance" festival. Okay. If that has to be, then a positioning in front of the two music acts would have been better, but above all more sensitive. This is now followed by intensive advertising by the sponsors, which ranges from chainsaws to banks and comes loudly and screaming from the boxes and brightly from all video walls. This will bring any concert mood to zero. At least this advertisement will be approx. 15 minutes before the start of the concert. By means of this silence, tension is created again and the fans are prepared for the start of the concert. Jean-Michel Jarre! The One and Only! Without warning, suddenly there is a loud countdown from 10, and the legend walks unspectacularly and simply dressed behind the control units. Finally the time has come!
The following almost 2 hours of concert are among the best and most perfect music shows I have ever seen. Before the concert started, we counted 21 (twenty-one!!!) Speaker systems that are suspended all around the Schlossplatz and provide the best possible sound. In addition to the three large projection surfaces on the left, right and behind Jean-Michel Jarre's workplace, there are another 12 (twelve!) partially column-like projection surfaces, which will later ensure a very spatial effect of the images shown. All this is suddenly brought to life with the beginning of the concert. Goosebumps, because with "Magnetic Fields" in the original version the evening begins. With the modernized "Oxygene 2" he puts on glasses with a camera, so that you can observe on the screens what his fingers are doing. Surprisingly, we find a lot of analog equipment there; they work with keyboards, mixers and controls, less with tablets as in the last last time. In the an-moderation of "Arpegiator", Jean-Michel Jarre breaks a lance for Germany and German music history. He appears on the small catwalk, takes off his glasses and speaks freely (even if it seems strange that German translations are running on the video walls). We do not know a sought-after closeness to the audience, combined with a relaxed appearance, from past concerts. This makes the evening personal, provides a feeling of closeness to this star and brings warmth to the concert despite a sometimes cool electronic music.
This type of presentation takes place several times in the show. Once he breaks a lance for AI. Much in this show is generated by AI. It is not AI as such that is dangerous, but dealing with it can be dangerous if it is used by the wrong people. We see the projections as razor-sharp, rhythmically exactly to the point and full of crazy ideas. Jean-Michel Jarre plays the mega show on stage completely alone - through AI it seems quite conceivable that he also controls the prepared sounds and projections completely alone. Sometimes you see a stage full of framed paintings and moving images, sometimes a stage full of washed-out colors or geometric shapes, supported by laser light. In "Robots Don't Cry", virtual robots dance around on stage. In "Oxygene 4" we discover between dancing virtual legs dressed in shoes on the screens suddenly dancing sneakers in the stage light... These are the feet of the master, as he is dancing behind his keyboards! Some in the audience will not have noticed this at all due to the optical overkill. When implementing this show idea, it must be borne in mind that Jean-Michel Jarre is already on his 80s. Even if he seems to have the genes to age only slowly, and you really don't look at it.
Several old pieces I discover as modern instrumented. I don't know any other pieces. But it is the mixture between old, renewed and new pieces that makes the evening so varied. He has something in store for every generation of his fans. If you listen openly and curiously to the music without the sleg of a generation of his almost 50-year career, it can be stated that we experience a musically very balanced and varied evening. Even for me as a fan of the first hour, a concentration on the old albums and their 1:1 representation on stage would have been boring.
It's hard to summarize the impressions of this great concert. The announcement that the concert has been recorded is gratifying. One can be curious when and in what form these shots will see the light of day. We wish Jean-Michel Jarre continued very good health and tireless mental freshness and creativity. One has the impression that the legend of electronic pop music still has a lot to do. I think we will enjoy the never-tired Frenchman for a long time.
