An apologist IMO is someone who makes up stuff to cover up what he himself considers a bad thing, in this particular case the use of preset rythems...

I'm someone who likes the album for what it is, the name JMJ on front doesn't matter much it's the music itself I like.

And like I said, I think it's his best work since 1993, hardly the stuff you hear from an apologist I think. If I was one I would also have to like GoL, S2K, Oxy 7-13 etc... Sorry, never liked them too much so... (especialy GoL is extremely annoying IMO, I actually hate it...)

Me too, I guess it would be the best alternative to the original 808 and 909 also. It doesn't sound weak as some drummachines do now adays.

I can play that game too
there is no way that JM used presets off this machine, but he had them specially programmed for him to use on his album. {SNIP} Because too much ended up on the actual MC808,
That is apologetic IMO

I have tried to get this thread going about the actual MC-808 atleast twice since it started, but it quickly goes back to the patterns debate. Arguing for the sake of an argument as the saying goes.


Anyhow - are all the voices in this new or are there any based on older machines such as TB, TR, etc, etc

What makes me really angry is that some people put their nose into this thread related to a musical instrument and used this to proclaim a crusade against the T&T album elsewhere; they didn't like the album and they just needed something to try to discredit it; many of them probably don't even know what a recording studio is, what is pre-production, production and mastering. What are the differences between melodic lines, chords and arrangements. What collaborations with other artists are.
If they know that, they pretend to ignore it to endorse their obsession against this album.
Thats what I've said all along,the anger is about the lack of the output of material not his machine usage

and it seems pretty evident that the special programming is Tim's own work, done for the T&T pre-production, that ended also on the definitive MC-808 memory, being Tim a MC-808 sound designer and pattern creator
and its also Quite possible that although Jarre didn't have his name credited directly for the 808 ,he could have Used an assumed name seeing as some of the patterns used were named under other people's creation.

I also don't understand why those people waste so much time in this game. If I purchase an album I don't like, I simply put it aside and maybe listen to it after some time; I don't waste my time going onto forums spamming accusations to discredit an artist. They show their bad attitude.
