So yeah, they refunded my box (because of the weird vinyl) instead of exchanging it on the basis of "it's cheaper now, so you can just buy it again and save money", it went out of stock there - great. I could buy it again somewhere else, but 66% of the price I paid in their "store credit"/"gift card", which now they won't be willing to exchange for cash (even if it's their fault, because I wanted an exchange, not a "refund and buy again").

Ok, this is off-topic, but I needed to vent - so far, except for the musical content of the Oxygene 3 album this 40th anniversary is not bringing much joy to me (actually, I'm pretty pissed by both the quality of the release and now this. It's my turn to experience the "myplaydirect" way of doing things obviously)

Yeah those three pages I had send to a good friend of mine. She had a good laugh because she loves these technological changes over the years. But don't forget that there's another magnetic tape for the second half of the album. I love it!

Yeah, it's a pun. Perreau sounds like Pere Eau which is Dad Water (in english).

My main point was that "Alan Smithee" was used by movie directors who didn't want to be credited for films they really disliked with their actual name (like David Lynch did with the TV cut of "Dune" for example).
So maybe Perreau switches to Dadwater whenever he creates a really bad master...

The rest of the track is the strongest piece JMJ has ever created in centuries.
It's amazing what a few long minor chords can do to a person emotionally.

You know, I like Oxygene 20, but to be honest, I don't find it *that* amazing, as some folks are talking here. It's okay. It has a nice chord sequence. But the noise on it is way too heavy handed, imo. If I didn't know it was Jarre, it would simply be an okay track. I also think it could have been a lot better if the whole thing wasn't recorded so quickly. This track in particular feels "rough."

My sentiments exactly. To me the chord changes are simply... too slow to keep track of them. The track just doesn't 'flow" for me, because my brain can't really "remember" when the last chord was, and since there aren't any other notes when the next chord comes it feels either too soon or too late.

Regarding the feel of being finished too quickly, same here - I found myself playing an Oxygene I style bass and a high pitched string sound (eminent obviously) over it and it just felt more complete.

I like Oxygene 20, but it's not really that interesting of a track. It's a nice slow track, but it's just too slow for me personally. Nothing special, nothing new and nothing memorable. It's just okay in my book. I do really enjoy the fire craking at the end of the track.

I honestly never gave this another go after the initial live stream. That fake audience noise... Sweet lord who thought that was a good idea!?

How about the low chart positions ?

No.41 in the UK. Not good, especially when the Electronica albums went top 10.
But it's no major surprise. People I know thought the Electronica albums were interesting and highly enjoyable (Vol 1 more so than 2) but they are think Oxy 3 is dull and uninspiring, and I don't think anyone who heard the previews would have rushed out to buy it.

Having said all that, the Trilogy boxset is at No.78, so obviously if it went on joint sales it may well be Top 20.
