Jean-Michel Jarre teams with Gesaffelstein for new single ‘Conquistador
Written by FACT Team on 20 April 2015

The iconic French composer and producer is back with his first piece of original music in eight years.

Last month Jean-Michel Jarre teased that a new album was on the horizon and today fans get their first taste of it. Jarre has teamed with Gesaffelstein for ‘Conquistador’ a song that will appear on the LP.

The new single for the still untitled album comes with a pair of alternate versions including a remix by Jarre and an extended mix. Listen to all three via Beatport and look for Jarre’s album later this year.

Listened to the track numerous times now. I have mixed feelings for it, I like it while not liking it* . I spot some elements of Globe Trotter in there, a possible nod towards Alabama 3? (Woke up this Morning), the Water For Life beat also. My only criticism is that they have made a 4 minute track out of 30 seconds. Its too repetitive*.

I think it's also got something of Eldorado (the female choir part). Which made me think: is there a connection between Conquistador and Eldorado? In history there is, so maybe JMJ had this in mind when composing?

Though don't forget Glory is an edited version at the moment. I guess it will be a 4 - 5 minutes track, it may have entirely instrumental parts.

I can see on iTunes that the tracktime of "Glory" is 4:00 minutes. Maybe it will be 6 minutes long, maybe not. We don't know at the moment. Only we can guess!

This "totally legal" upload of the Conquistador - JMJ Extended RMX is still there, btw

I also wonder what he's trying to convey with this message, for Soundcloud to take notice of the single or... what?

I really like the new tracks. "Conquistador" reminds me of "Deserted Palace" in a way. Not the kind of music most fans were waiting for - sure. I can't wait to hear the track he did with Boris Blank !

Let's hope there will be a video for each track just like Conquistador got.
