I'll just leave the patchbuttons then, it worse when the keyboard ain't working properly. The D-50 has one of the better keyboards, so I sometimes use it with my other synths, and a broken key in the middle of the board is a killer. It's just that the guy I bought my D-50 from a year ago, had just been through a major maintennance of the keys. From what you guys say, it's one of the more simple problems to solve. Thanks for the help and info.
Btw I haven't been cleaning the inside of electronics before. What do I need? I don't want to use anything that suddently shows to be destroyng the contact.



And a quite different question now we are at the D-50 subject. Can anybody say what year a specific unit was produced by looking at the serial number? Since it was produced from 87 to 89, I was born just in the middle of the D-50 years. It could be interesting to find out who saw the daylight first... me or the synth

I took that chance an opened the D-50, but the kay area looks more complicated than I thought.
First of all my problem was a key that doesn't work. How do I get into that without tearing apart the whole synth?

I'm afraid you need to take the keyboard apart from the whole synth, you will have to unmount it entirely

I did it some years ago, I don't regret it, it takes a lot of time but it's worth it

Thanks a lot!... that was quite useful. As Equinox said, dead keys seems like a VERY common problem with the D-50. My dead key is the 'E' on the forth octave (under patch number 7), so it pretty much makes it impossible to use the keyboard by now. One of the users in that discussion experienced that all 'E' keys were dead. So tehre is some sort of connection between the keys?
